Do you get asked to trade or barter for your professional services and wonder if it's a good idea? In this week’s podcast I give you one simple, straightforward question to ask yourself before entering into a trade or barter situation. If you answer that question and want to move forward with the trade, I give you my iron clad strategy to make sure the agreement works well for both parties involved.
Listen to my 12 minute podcast here! I share two important stories of trade gone wrong so you can learn from their mistakes.
I have one simple question you need to ask yourself before you move forward with the trade. Where you going to spend your hard earned money on this good or service regardless?
Next, I give you an ironclad strategy for making the trade agreement work for both parties based on my years of experience seeing these agreements go haywire! In this podcast I share with you the only strategy that guarantees a successful trade.
Most often I see the trade go sour because one party views the terms of the trade differently than the other party. The devil is in the details folks! Be sure you write out the following: The entire timeline of the barter. The start date, the end date. The frequency of the trades for goods/services Is it once a month, once a quarter, once a week? The true monetary value of both parties goods and services. Use full price for valuing this trade. Include the sense of urgency of the trade. Is this trade time sensitive? Does one of the trades need to be performed sooner than the other? Does one of the services need to be performed in real time, ie social media posts, vs the other service not being in real time? Be sure both parties are clear about what the expectations are for doing the work.
You can also learn how to avoid the most common pitfalls by listening to this week's podcast.
