How to manage changes from your Boss or client

Do you work hard on multiple projects for your boss only to have them give you 23 additional emails with new or different information to work on every week?

  • What do you actually work on?

  • How do you prioritize?

  • Is it possible to talk to your boss  without sounding like you are complaining?

  • How can you get it all done when your plate is already full?

Communicating with a boss who consistently gives you work projects without setting clear expectations or priorities and expands your Roles and Responsibilities without documenting it with HR (or you ) is called "managing up".

I have successfully coached business professionals how to feel confident about clarifying expectations  and responsibilities with their boss without sounding like you don't want to do the work or cannot get the projects accomplished. In this 3 minute video I share with  you the perspective and the attitude you need to deal with a boss who continues to pile on emails with unrealistic expectations.

I give you the precise language and script you can use to communicate with your boss to ensure you can accomplish projects successfully. There is an art to "managing up" successfully without ill will. In this 3 minute video I tell you exactly how you can "manage up" with confidence and the intent to collaborate.

As an entrepreneur, any number of changes on a project can demand more of your time or compress your timeline- thus requiring you to work faster or longer hours that were not part of your original negotiations. Many times this happens when the client expects a slightly quicker turnaround, higher levels of hands on customer service, takes longer than expected to approve a design or revision and/or suggesting a different delivery method.

This is called Change of Project Scope and when the requests are not an obvious "change", it’s called Scope Creep (because the changes creep up on you and before you know it, the project has indeed changed). You must communicate immediately with your client and outline the new perimeters and clarify priorities even if their requests don't necessitate more hours from you. It will cost you if you don't- I guarantee it from years of experience working with entrepreneurs!

I have a simple way for you to clarify expectations AND ask for a change fee when your client changes the perimeters about what you are providing them.

Please watch this video and learn how to be confident when asking for clarification from your boss AND change fees from your client when there are changes.

You will be happy you did!
